The Long Climb

VERSION 0.931  ·  25 AUGUST 2026

Levelling had a problem: the top of the ladder arrived too fast. The early game is untouched — your first session still lands exactly where it used to — but the later levels are now a real climb, with level 99 costing twenty times what it did.

Your XP is untouched — your level will have moved. Every career keeps every point of XP it earned; levels are simply re-read against the new curve, so most have come down. Talent points follow your level, and a saved tree that no longer fits its budget runs that class's default build until you level back into it — the talents board shows you exactly where you stand.

The new curve

The old formula is still the lead term, so the change is invisible early and compounds late:

level112550759099
XP vs before1.0×1.1×2.2×7.2×13.9×20×

Why: hitting the cap quickly left nothing to climb toward, and with per-class careers there are eight ladders to walk. Slowing the tail without touching the head keeps the early reward intact.
